Lesson 1: Briefing : Straight and Level Flight


In this flight, you’ll learn about keeping the wings level and the airplane flying in one direction.

ABOUT THE FLIGHT

You’ll start in the air at 5000 feet with Rod flying the airplane. He will explain the lesson and then guide you through using the joystick to control the airplane’s pitch and bank.

KEY COMMANDS TO REMEMBER

Numpad 4 to look left; Numpad 6 to look right. Be sure that the NumLock light on your keyboard is lit.

FLIGHT CRITERIA

For this lesson, “straight” means holding a heading within +/- 20 degrees, and “level” means staying within +/- 200 feet of a specific altitude. You’ll be asked to maintain specific airspeeds within 5 knots and specific power settings within 100 RPM.
